A closet full of clothes and nothing to wear? It’s time to clean out that closet. (Linda Miller)

I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with my closet.

Love that it’s roomy enough for most of my clothes, shoes and handbags. Hate that it seems to get out of control so quickly.

I try to fill it with only clothes I love … and wear. A couple of times a year I give it a quick once over for garments that no longer fit that criteria and head to the consignment shop or Suited for Success.

A quick once-over isn’t enough. Things continue to get overlooked or buried. I decided it was time for a serious purge when I came across several pairs of pantyhose still in the packaging. I haven’t worn pantyhose in years. Same with belts, but there they were, hanging silently for who knows how long in a dark corner. That discovery led to more and more.

And so the big closet clean of 2015 began.

Over the years, I’ve written several stories with tips for cleaning a closet and keeping it well organized. It’s pretty much the same information each time, so rather than reinvent the clothes rod, here are the suggestions I included in the last closet-cleaning story I wrote for The Oklahoman.

One piece at a time. Pull everything out of the closet and check each garment carefully. Make a keep pile for pieces you love, wear, fit well…………… continues on NewsOK.com

Single-load laundry packets could be harmful to kids
News from Theadanews:

The new single-load detergent packets populating store shelves might make doing laundry quicker and easier, but if young children happen to get ahold of one of the packets, it could make them sick.

Usually detergents cause a mild upset stomach or possibly no symptoms at all. But, after being exposed to the single-load packets, some children have experienced excessive vomiting, wheezing and gasping; serious breathing problems; and severe irritation and scratches to their eyes. In some cases, children were hospitalized.

According to a study published online Nov. 10 in the journal, “Pediatrics,” more than 17,000 children younger than 6 years old ingested, inhaled or splashed the packets in their eyes or on their skin in 2012-13. The study used data from the National Poison Data System.

This unfortunate trend is a strong reminder to parents and caregivers to keep detergents and other laundry products out of the reach of children. Really, we should treat these products the same way we treat all cleaning or hazardous products we keep around the house.

The pods are generally bright, colorful, squishy and resemble a toy or candy, easily drawing the attention of the very young. Manufacturer…………… continues on Theadanews
