Dishwasher cleaning tips
News from HeraldNet:
Cleaning a dishwasher is not usually at the very top of our cleaning list. Most of us believe that dishwashers clean themselves.

However, over time, rust and lime can build up and become a problem. The insides of your dishwasher can be made to sparkle by using a powdered citric acid cleaner. Fill the soap cup with the citric acid and let the machine run for a full cycle.

Vinegar can be used where no rust exists. The process is easy. Start the dishwasher and allow it to fill with hot water. Open the door and pour in two cups of white vinegar. Allow the dishwasher complete its full cleaning cycle.

If your dishwasher smells, then remove the bottom rack and look for food and debris trapped in and around the drain filter.

If you do buy special products, test them on inconspicuous spots to see if they cause damage.

  • Use a paintbrush, toothbrush and toothpicks to get grime and debris out of hard-to-reach corners, crevices, around the hardware under the seat, etc. Brush dirt where you can easily reach it with a vacuum.
