Kent fire service strike called off as major incident declared
News from Canterbury Times:

KENT Fire and Rescue has called off planned strike action because of the severe weather.

The fire service was due to take strike action at 7pm until midnight but in a statement said it had recalled staff, adding: “Kent Police has declared a major incident for the ongoing flooding and spate conditions affecting Kent. Therefore, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent FBU officials have agreed a countywide recall for firefighters who were due to take strike action at 7pm.”

Kent Police is working with other emergency services as flood warnings are in place.

There are numerous, mainly minor roads across the county which are still blocked with fallen trees. The main roads have been cleared of obstructions. KCC contractors are continuing to work to clear minor roads as quickly as possible.
